Mr. Ajay Shah is the General Partner of Shah Management, LLC.
Most recently, Mr. Shah was the CEO and led the founding of the Technology Solutions unit of Solectron, a Fortune 500 company. This $1.5 Billion unit was composed of Solectron subsidiaries that develop and market products including SMART Modular Technologies, Force Computers, DY4 Corporation and US Robotics Corporation.
Previously, in 1989 he co-founded SMART Modular Technologies, Inc. and as Chairman and CEO led its’ growth to over $1 Billion in revenues. In 1999 SMART merged with Solectron Corporation in a transaction valued at over US$2 Billion.
From 1982 to 1989 Mr. Shah held strategic planning and marketing, manufacturing, engineering and product line management positions in the semiconductor industry, first at Advanced Micro Devices and subsequently at Samsung Semiconductor. He holds an M.S. degree in Engineering Management from Stanford University, California, and a Bachelor’s in Engineering degree from the University of Baroda, India.
Mr. Shah was elected “Entrepreneur of the Year” for Silicon Valley in 1997. He is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Solectron Corp., US Robotics Corp., Proactive Networks, Tachyon Corp. and Vcustomer, Inc. He also serves on the boards of KQED Public Television, San Francisco; The Tech Museum, San Jose; The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), The Indian School of Business, India and the American India Foundation (AIF).
